One of my main goals for this year was to “legitimize” myself as an artist. I hate that term because it implies I’ve been an illegitimate artist to this point, but what it really means to me is to invest in my lifelong dream and dive in fully. One step for doing that was to create a website to house my portfolio and tell my story and one day sell art pieces from. I’m happy to announce that brianalexandermenke.com is now live (link in bio)! I’m also excited to share these awesome pics from my shoot with @furthercreativestudio. Thank you to everyone who has supported my dreams over the years. “Lady in Red” This was the first painting I started in 2025, and it feels like a leap forward stylistically for me. Finding the subtle colors that exist in a dark scene and making them glow in the foreground and fade into the night was so challenging but so fun. This painting was sourced from a picture of @svectacular, and as soon as I saw the picture I knew it would make for an awesome painting. The candid pose with light shining out on her had a haunting quality about it, and I think I was able to capture it in this painting. The more I paint the more I strive to make my work feel “alive” and there’s something about this one that feels very alive to me.
